Gemeinhardt 4PMH Piccolo Review

Gemeinhardt 4PMH Piccolo

Gemeinhardt 4PMH Piccolo

The Gemeinhardt 4PMH piccolo is perfect for marching band and is one of BIGs highest rated student piccolos. What stands out about this piccolo is its performance in extreme weather conditions.

I have seen it said many times that the Gemeinhardt 4PMH piccolos perform unusually well in extreme temperatures and humidity, and that its high impact plastic body surpasses many others.

So, in other words, it stands out in durability. If extreme temperatures and humidity (and high impact) are a concern for your student, make the Gemeinhardt 4PMH a contender on your student-piccolo wish list.

Gemeinhardt 4PMH Piccolo Overview

Silver-Plated Headjoint & Plastic Body Are a Great Combination

The Gemeinhardt 4PMH is a great piccolo for marching band and all outdoor activities due to the combination of a silver-plated headjoint and high impact ABS resin (plastic) body. The silver-plated headjoint provides the projection need for the marching field and the plastic body makes it very durable. It is known to outperform other piccolos in extreme environments, where humidity and temperatures are a concern.

Conical Bore Produces Great Sound

The Gemeinhardt 4PMH has a conical bore, which is known to produce strong sounds. The copper beryllium springs are a plus, because this alloy is known for its strength with non-magnetic and non-sparking qualities. The high impact plastic used for the body not only increases durability, but also helps in price control. The high impact plastic is easy to work with, easy to paint and glue, is less expensive than silver alloys, and has good dimensional stability, all of which helps efficiency and the consumer’s wallet.

  • Durable plastic composite body
  • Easy to maintain
  • Lip-plate eases transition from flute

Great instrument for the price!

I tried this piccolo for a few days to see how it plays & I was very impressed with the sound. For being plastic & silver plated, it plays better than most instruments of the same material. All notes speak out clearly & this piccolo has a very quick response. I recommend this to anyone who is in desperate need for a good priced piccolo, or for anyone who is just starting out. Although, if you are willing to spend a little more & have more experience, I would recommend getting the Gemeinhardt 4S.
