Gemeinhardt 2SP Flute Overview
The Gemeinhardt 2SP flute is a silver-plated student flute with excellent tonal qualities. As a student flute it is built tough assuming in might take a bit of abuse here and there. It should be more than capable of standing up to it. Gemeinhardt is a good choice in brand names for student flutists who want something to help them get to the next level.
Built for the Advanced Student
This instrument is built more for advanced students, which means it might be a little difficult to play for beginning students, but advanced student players will be able to get a lot of color out of their tone with this instrument. The instrument is durable, but the Gemeinhardt 2SP flute is precise enough that, for primary school children and absolute beginners, it may be a better option for their next level.
For the best tonal quality out of a flute, silver is always the primary choice. Intermediate level students may not be at the point where they want to invest in a silver instrument quite yet, and this is where silver-plated designs come in to play. This is triple coated silver plated finish, so it’s very durable. It also has that superior tonal quality to it over nickel-plating, however, which may make a real difference in keeping a student interested.
Gemeinhardt has a great reputation where the response of their instruments are concerned. This particular model of flute has been popular for a long time because of its excellent responsive qualities. This response exists through the entire range of the instrument, allowing players to explore their capabilities without having to worry that the instrument is in giving them the kind of results that they want.
Gemeinhardt produces very good quality instruments. Many advanced flautists have likely learned on a Gemeinhardt flute at some point during their careers. The 2SP line, in the hands of a skilled player, could feasibly perform at the level of a very expensive instrument, and this company does add enhancements that make their flutes very good choices for people who want to balance the cost with the quality of the instrument they get. Gemeinhardt offers pad cups, power coined keys and other enhancements that make their instruments serious enough for students who want to advance. The 2SP model is notable because of the way it balances out its capability for subtlety and its rather famous levels of durability.
Easy to Care For
The price of the Gemeinhardt 2SP anticipates that the player will put a bit more time into maintenance than they would with a truly beginner level flute, but this is definitely a tough instrument. The high-quality materials of which it is made, the inclusion of the case and cleaning supplies and stainless steel springs and the four post footjoint all make this a sturdy instrument that could realistically be used for decades.
Gemeinhardt 2SP Flute Video Review
The Gemeinhardt SP2 flute, because it has been around for so long and has such a good reputation, not only gets great reviews, but gets a good helping of nostalgia from people who remember it from their early days, as well.
I ordered this flute so I could play in the school band with my own flute. It is amazing. you can get a sound out of it very easy, and its great for beginners and advanced people. I recommend this to everyone.
Truly amazing flute...
This is my first flute, though I will be moving on soon to a Gemeinhardt 4SP flute. This flute has served me well, and I would recommend it to any beginning flautist. It has a head-joint that can't be beat by other brands it its tonal responsiveness, and ease of sound production. I can easily hit 4th octave D (not 3rd), Though going higher is quite hard. I found it equally as easy to go low, and the foot works well, though the key is a bit heavy for the pinky in fast movements. This flute can't be beat with the ratio of price to quality, and even with a well-known, and popular brand. Comparable Yamaha's can be upwards of 900 bucks, and this is equal in quality and sound.
Highly recommended by band directors throughout the US, the Gemeinhardt 2SP is an excellent student flute that's easy on the pocket book.
Based on overall quality and value the Gemeinhardt 2SP gets a BIG 4.7 stars!
